When Morgan and Charlotte were in Paris last summer, the number one trend they noticed was colored skinny jeans. Soon after Europe they took off in the United States as well, and have stuck around for quite some time. The most recent update to this trend is adding a polka print, as seen above with our top five favorites from retailers across the board.
However, we realize it can be tricky to style this whimsical, cute-sy piece while maintaining a sense of sophistication. Here are our top tips on styling suggestions for a daytime look, an evening look, and an office look.
For a daytime look, utilize another current trend, which is print-blocking, or mix and matching different prints. The key to this trend is juxtaposition. Mix two different print sizes – the larger floral with the smaller dots. Also, be sure that there is a color contrast. The top is lighter based whereas the pants are a brighter, darker color. Breaking up color and size of the different prints and creating contrast is the key to success in this look – nobody wants to be a monochromatic mismatching mess of print!
Whether it is for date night or an evening out with the girls, this ensemble has you covered. Jewelry and other gold accessories give the outfit a little extra something, though be careful not to over-do it. We love how the hang of the necklace and the peplum flow so well together.
A silk blouse is a great staple to have in any wardrobe – you could pretty much pair anything with it and still you would not end up on the DO NOT segment of our Wednesday Wisdom. This choice dresses up the polka dot pant nicely to be office-appropriate, while pops of red keep it fashion-forward and chic.
